Target Audience: Adult English learners experiencing communication insecurity, limited study time, or financial barriers to traditional English lessons.

The Project

Destravando o Inglês na Vida Adulta is a self-paced online learning experience created to help adults overcome common barriers to English learning.

The course combines short, conversational lessons with reflective exercises and practical challenges that encourage learners to build confidence, develop sustainable learning habits, and integrate English into their everyday lives.

The Learning Challenge

Through my experience as an English educator, I repeatedly encountered adult learners who wanted to improve their English but struggled to communicate confidently.

Many reported understanding English but feeling unable to express themselves when speaking. Limited study time and financial constraints were also recurring barriers.

These observations helped me identify a central challenge: adult learners needed practical, accessible strategies to build confidence, develop sustainable learning habits, and integrate English into their everyday lives.

The course was created in response to these recurring needs, identified through informal conversations and my teaching experience.

Instructional Design Decisions

To address the challenges identified among adult English learners, I made intentional design decisions focused on flexibility, accessibility, and practical application.

Microlearning: I structured the course into ten lessons, each lasting no more than ten minutes, to accommodate learners with limited study time.

Audio-Friendly Format: Lessons were designed to be consumed like a podcast, allowing learners to engage with the content during everyday activities.
